Monthly Archives: August 2019

We still have five weeks following this one.

The weather looks like it might a nice day tomorrow. There will be
gala apples, Asian pears, peaches, water melons, cantaloupes, a
variety of vegetables, squash, tomatoes, okra, string beans,
cucumbers, potatoes, and others. There’ll be fried pies, grass fed
hamburger, and olive oil and Balsamic vinegar. Our bee keeper is
fighting a sinus problem and might not be attending. We’re still
accepting donated items for our food pantry, North Jefferson Food
Pantry. The needed items are listed in previous notes. Now that school
is open, the Gardendale Kiwanis Club will no longer do children’s
story reading. Please come out and support our growers and vendors.
See you tomorrow.

our growers and vendors.

Another great day ahead.

The weather is predicted to be a hot, and not very humid, tomorrow
and it might be to your advantage to shop early. The Gardendale
Kiwanis Club will be doing children’s story telling at 11.00 AM near
the command center for the last time; school will be open next week.
We’ll have a variety of seasonal produce, vegetables and fruit; corn,
squash, okra, tomatoes, peaches, apples, cantaloupes, watermelon, and
more. There’ll be vendors selling a variety of fried pies, honey,
eggs, and plants. As stated in previous messages, this market is a
Christian outreach to the community; likewise, Good Shepherd Lutheran
Church operates the North Jefferson Food Bank as another outreach.
There’ve been many people seeking help and the shelves are almost
bare, so the farmers market is asking for assistance from the
customers to donate the following needed items: saltine crackers,
instant grits & oatmeal, canned meat, peanut butter & jelly, ketchup,
mustard, mayo, complete pancake mix, pasta, noodles & sauce, boxed
powder milk, deluxe mac-n-cheese, mashed potato packets, toilet paper
(4 pk), instant white rice, soups (chicken noodle, tomato, vegetable),
applesauce (in jar), fruit cups, chunky soups with meat, laundry &
dish detergents, PB/cheese crackers, spaghetti O’s/ravioli,
toothpaste/deodorant, and single roll paper towels. We’d appreciate
all the help we can get, and we thank those of you that have been kind
enough to donate needed food. Please remember to let our sponsors,
America’s First Federal Credit Unit; Scott Cantrell State Farm
Insurance; and John Deer Dealer TriGreen Equipment, know you’ve seen
this. America’s First Federal Credit Union will have their mobile ATM
unit on the grounds; also, there’s an ATM unit inside the civic
center. Please come out and support our vendors and growers; see you
tomorrow.
