Another hot day expected

The Gardendale Kiwanis Club will be doing children’s story telling at
9:30 AM near the command center. We’ll have a variety of seasonal
produce, vegetables and fruit; corn, squash, okra, tomatoes, string
beans, peaches, watermelon, and more. There’ll be vendors selling
muscadine juice and jelly, olive oil and balsamic vinegar, coffee
beans and grounds, frozen ground beef, a variety of fried pies, honey,
eggs, and plants. Unfortunately, we’ve lost our food vendor due to
poor sales. As stated in previous messages, this market is a Christian
outreach to the community; likewise, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
operates the North Jefferson Food Bank as another outreach. There’ve
been many people seeking help and the shelves are almost bare, so the
farmers market is asking for assistance from the customers to donate
the following needed items: saltine crackers, instant grits & oatmeal,
canned meat, peanut butter & jelly, ketchup, mustard, mayo, complete
pancake mix, pasta, noodles & sauce, boxed powder milk, deluxe
mac-n-cheese, mashed potato packets, toilet paper (4 pk), instant
white rice, soups (chicken noodle, tomato, vegetable), applesauce (in
jar), fruit cups, chunky soups with meat, laundry & dish detergents,
PB/cheese crackers, spaghetti O’s/ravioli, toothpaste/deodorant, and
single roll paper towels. We’d appreciate all the help we can get. We
thank those of you that have been kind enough to donate needed food.
Please remember to let our sponsors, America’s First Federal Credit
Unit; Scott Cantrell State Farm Insurance; and John Deer Dealer
TriGreen Equipment, know you’ve seen this. America’s First Federal
Credit Union will have their mobile ATM unit on the grounds; also,
there’s an ATM unit inside the civic center. Please come out and
support our vendors and growers; see you tomorrow.
