We’re having our veteran’s program

The Gardendale Kiwanis Club will be doing children’s story telling at
9:30 near the command center. We’ll have the annual Veteran’s
Recognition program starting at 12 noon. The event is scheduled to be
held outdoors. The Marine Corps League will serve as the color guard
and do the Iwo-Jima reenactment. We’ll have a guest speaker from the
Birmingham VAMC. A free meal will be offered to all veterans, city
employees, and those members of the market. This market is a Christian
outreach to the community; likewise, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
operates the North Jefferson Food Bank as another outreach. There’ve
been many people seeking help and the shelves are almost bare, so the
farmers market is asking for assistance from the customers to donate
the following needed items: saltine crackers, instant grits & oatmeal,
canned meat, peanut butter & jelly, ketchup, mustard, mayo, complete
pancake mix, pasta, noodles & sauce, boxed powder milk, deluxe
mac-n-cheese, mashed potato packets, toilet paper (4 pk), instant
white rice, soups (chicken noodle, tomato, vegetable), applesauce (in
jar), fruit cups, chunky soups with meat, laundry & dish detergents,
PB/cheese crackers, spaghetti O’s/ravioli, toothpaste/deodorant, and
single roll paper towels. We’d appreciate all the help we can get.
Please remember to let our sponsors, America’s First Federal Credit
Unit; Scott Cantrell State Farm Insurance; and John Dealer TriGreen
Equipment, know you’ve seen this. Please come out and support our
vendors and growers; see you tomorrow.

We’ll be on the parking lot

Tomorrow, we’ll be setting up on the parking lot at the civic center
due to the possible inclement weather. Most of the vendors will be
attending depending if we’re getting a heavy downpour. There will be
all of the growers selling produce. This market is sponsored by Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church as an outreach to the community; likewise,
the church operates the North Jefferson Food Bank as another outreach.
