Library story reading kickoff

This will be the starting of the children’s reading for the summer
with activities at the civic center. Members of the Gardendale Kiwanis
Club will be doing children’s story reading at 9:30 AM. Outside of the
activities the library staff will be doing, we’ll have the inflatable
bouncy for the remainder of the summer school break. Peaches, chard,
turnip greens, collards, squash, broccoli, hot house tomatoes, and
potatoes are being sold. Along with the produce, there’ll be muscadine
juice, coffee beans and grounds, baked goods, fried pies, beef hamburg
and other beef orders, honey, and chemical free soaps, lotions,
deodorants, and chap sticks. Two Fat Men Catering will be serving
delicious Italian meals. Please let our three sponsors know you’ve
seen this message; John Deere distributor TriGreen Equipment,
America’s First Federal Credit Union, and Scott Cantrell State Farm
Insurance. Please come and support our growers and vendors. See you
tomorrow.

Weekly update

I forgot to mention that we have Thom and Luann Duran, Two Fat Men
Catering, selling delicious Italian food. I misspelled the word
Vietnam (Viet Nam); my bad. I should know better being a member of the
Vietnam Veterans of America. See you tomorrow.

We’re back!

The market will open this Thursday, May 23rd, at the Gardendale Civic
Center, from 9 AM to 1 PM. There’ll be local vegetables and fruits,
honey, fried pies, muscadine juice, tomato plants, and home made
soaps, lotions, and deodorants. We have new vendors, April McClung,
Emily’s Heirloom Pound Cakes, selling cake slices and taking orders
for full cakes; Tracey Kerbler, Glenn Brook Acres, selling Highland
cattle hamburg and other beef cuts; and J.D. Junkins, Screaming Beans
Coffee, selling coffee beans and grinds from around the world. This
year, the Gardendale Kiwanis Club members will be doing children’s
story reading at 9:30 AM, starting this week. We’ll have a canopy set
up for the children to sit under. We’re continuing the veteran’s
canopy occupied by members of the Viet Nam Veterans of America and
Vets to Vets; occasionally, a member of the Veterans Administration
will be present. Please let our sponsors, America’s First Federal
Credit Union; John Deere dealer, TriGreen Equipment; and Scott
Cantrell, State Farm Insurance, know you’re aware they’re our
sponsors. Please come to the market and support our growers and
vendors. See you Thursday.
